Zong-Yuan Zhao has become Australia's 3rd Grandmaster

Zong-Yuan Zhao has become Australia's 3rd Grandmaster after Ian Rogers and Darryl Johansen. Zhao gained his last GM norm on the 31st of January in a strong international tournament in Gibraltar. Since Zhao's rating is over 2500, he becomes Australia's 3rd GM.

Zhao completed the extraordinary feat of collecting 3 GM norms is about two months. Australia's two other grandmasters, Ian Rogers, 47, and Darryl Johansen, 48, both achieved their GM status at the respective ages of 24 and 35.
